In creating the different aspects of this fully Technofied lesson plan I found myself working and re-working all of the moving parts several times. I decided to make the design into a unit plan with four different lessons lasting an approximate six weeks. I am really proud of how it turned out and I hope that someday I'm in a school with the technological support required to carry it out.
In the Box.com gadget to the right you will find a .pdf version of my Google Document outlining my Technofied Lesson Plan. Also, included are the examples used to show students how they will complete the assignment.

Digital Video: A Gallery Experience
I had a great time with this video assignment. I've played with it for quite a while, but have decided that it is finished. I used the video resources a LOT that were on Moodle. I used MovieMaker for Windows and it took lots of failure to wind up successful...and a lot of extra YouTube video tutorials for specific problems. Thank goodness for YouTube!
I hope you all enjoy my gift to you, of a digital art gallery experience!

Adventure in Podcasting
Wow. As a first time podcaster, this was quite an exploration. I did my Podcasting Assignment 1 on Maya Angelou. She is a famous person who has done tons of work in the area of civil rights and is an acclaimed poet, author, public speaker and icon for feminist hardships in the nation. I had fun finding different ways to introduce sound effects into the process. I think that was my favorite part.
I was interviewed by a friend, Emma Ehret, who graciously took her time to swing by and interview me for the Assignment 2 portion of the Podcasting learning experience. I can't thank her enough for taking her time to conduct the interview. We discussed the implementation of technology in art education classrooms. We discussed the differences of using technology with art through the different grades as well as different pieces of technology to use. It was a fun experience. I had about a dozen coughs I had to edit out! Haha...but...it was a pretty fun process. I did enjoy this assignment. :)

A Journey to the Art
I have created a lesson plan for a 12th grade or upper division high school art class. The objective of the lesson is the find famous works of art all throughout the world using Google Earth and Google Docs. The students will compile a tour and write summaries and present a Google Earth Tour with specific requirements to the class at an assigned time. The students will be working in groups.
From Birth To Missoula
I was born in Billings, Montana however, I grew up in Choteau. After I graduated High School I moved to San Antonio, TX first, then to Tucson , AZ for six and a half years. From Tucson I moved to Mehlbach, Germany and lived there for seven years. It was a wonderful place to live, and I'm hoping to move back as soon as I can after graduation from UM. I moved from Mehlbach back to Choteau for a few months and then on to Missoula, Montana where I currently reside!

Google Earth Exploration Through Art
Hello everyone,
I've chosen to share my love of art with this exploration through Google Earth. I was able to see many fabulous art museums during my seven years in Europe. Going to see new art museums became kind of a weekend adventure for me, and so when the stipulations for this assignment came out I immediately decided I wanted to share some of my favorite museums, and why.
So, please enjoy my YouTube movie. (I did have music in my powerpoint, but it wouldn't transfer to the video format. It was much more fun to watch with the Parisian music playing in the background...sorry class.)

Collaboration and the Cloud with Handheld Microscopes!
Hey there fellow grads!
Our Collaboration and the Cloud assignment is complete and thanks to an amazing group of really hardworking classmates, we got it done efficiently and all learned quite a lot (I know I did, anyway!). I was surprised through this assignment how much Google offers, and I'm sure we're only scratching the surface of what all can be done with the programs.
Our collaboration was done on the use of handheld microscopes in the classroom. Our ultimate thesis here was to provide information that would support the use of these handhelds in K-12 classrooms as an aide to learning. We provided information that would be useful for any teacher or administration member who was looking into the pro's and con's of these devices. Please view our documents in the box.com gadget to the right. I've also linked our Google Doc for our Handheld Microscopes Collaboration under Katie's Fav Links. So, please, enjoy!

Technology in Education = Katie's Achilles Heel!
Welcome Fellow Educators!
Hello! My name is Katie Facklam and I have recently left a career in the Air Force that took me all over the world! I love travel and education very much, so I plan on combining the two and becoming a teacher overseas. But first, I came back to my home state to get a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction and a second Bachelor's in Art Education with licensure. I am BUSY! But, aren't we all? I am excited to go on this adventure with you all...and am sure that I will need some help, as technology is NOT my strong suit, so I look forward to learning with and from you all! Let's do it!
I am originally from Choteau, MT which is a two and a half hour drive North East from Missoula. It is a gorgeous place and I still count myself thankful and lucky to have grown up a Montanan. I have lived in Tucson, AZ and Germany and have traveled to over 40 different countries in my previous job as a flying aircraft mechanic on C-130 aircraft. It was an amazing job that I am thankful to have had.
I am so looking forward to a new adventure in teaching, and I KNOW that learning how to incorporate technology will only enhance my ability to help students and be the best that I can be... So, with that...we begin!
My first share in my field with you all is from my very favorite site, Art in the 21st Century, or "Art21". Enjoy the video on one of my favorite artists!
